Members of the Community Centre Committee were slightly surprised to discover at their last meeting that the Community Centre is designated as an Emergency Rest Centre in the event of a major emergency in the local area (i.e. if people have to be evacuated because of a serious fire, natural disaster or other major incident).

The Joint Cheshire Emergency Planning Team, a joint service of Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Councils, has invited a Community Centre Committee representative to attend one of its regular Rest Centre Workshops, in Winsford next month, to learn more about the process , from "call-out" to closure. Obviously we all hope this knowledge will never need to be put into practice, but it is good to know such plans are in place "just in case"

Unlike many or our neighbouring villages, Tarvin has had no maps on display of our historic village centre Conservation Area. Tarvin Civic Trust thought that posting a display somewhere in the village centre might fit the bill. We considered display boards of all shapes and sizes but where would we put them? Parents, carers and eagle eyed members of the community may have noticed that a concrete slab has been laid adjacent to the entrance to the playground at the Primary School.For those weren't aware this will house cycle shelters so that bikes and scooters can be protected from the weather during the school day.
