An early celebration of Joyce Owen's remarkable 105th birthday took place at the St Andrew's coffee morning on Wednesday.
The fiercely independent Joyce, who lives in Tarvin village, has a rich history, including growing up in London, where she remembers horse-drawn trams and the muffin man cycling through the streets.
During World War II, she served as an officer in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) and proudly displays her medals each Remembrance Day at the village memorial. In 1999, Joyce relocated from Cardiff to Tarvin to be nearer to her grandchildren and is a regular worshipper at St Andrews.
The celebrations were attended by her family and friends, and the event was featured on Granada Reports. Joyce's life story is an inspiration to many in the community, showcasing resilience and independence at an impressive age.
