At the Open Forum of the Parish Council meeting held on Monday evening Borough Councillor Harry Tonge highlighted a number of items.

He encouraged the Council to respond to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC)'s consultation on local cycle routes.

He told the meeting that CWaC had agreed the areas it would concentrate on to address climate change.

He reported that he had been a member of a sub-committee which had reviewed home-to-school transport and that the sub-committee was recommending:
a) bringing together the separate admissions and transport processes.
b. returning to the old catchment areas.
c) giving the people who heard appeals more discretion, particularly over distance or where a decision looked
perverse.

CWaC may not accept any or all of the recommendations.

Tarvin residents will realise that, if implemented, these recommendations should benefit those local families who want their children to attend Tarporley High School. However, the proposals would cost CWaC money, and its budget is under significant strain because of the cap on Council Tax and the loss of Government grant.
