An enthusiastic audience of over 70 enjoyed Strawberries & Cream, before settling down to an eclectic programme of popular classics, and memorable favourites, performed on both the organ and piano by Director of Music Michael Reynolds. Also taking part was one of Michael's young pupils, pianist Sarah Roberts.

Getting off to a rousing start with Sousa's march "The Liberty Bell", we were then entranced by two of Rachmaninov's best known compositions, the "18th variation on a theme of Paganini", performed as a solo by Sarah, and then joined by Michael for his duet "Valse" A second duet was Scott Joplin's "The Cascades"

Michael, as we have come to expect from previous recitals, changed the mood entirely, with his own arrangement "Happy Birthday Mr Presley" commemorating the 80th anniversary of Elvis' birth. His second own arrangement "Unexpected Medley" had the audience scratching their head's trying to identify the popular sit-com theme tunes of the 80's & 90's A second duet with Sarah, Jon Raybould's "Catch the Late Train" led into the fitting finale on the organ of Louis Vierne's "Final Movement from his Symphony No 1"

The concert had the audience clamouring for more, and there will indeed be more when Michael returns for the Summer Concert, featuring Tarvin Church Choir, Tarvin Youth Choir, and Guest artists. This will take place on SATURDAY 11th July starting at 7.00 p.m. (No tickets required--retiring collection)

Last Friday's concert raised over £300 towards the upkeep of St Andrew's Church and it's fine Organ. Thanks to all who attended and donated so generously.
