Over 3,000 Children in Cheshire West and Chester Benefit from Cycle Training

Cheshire West and Chester Council's Road Safety team, in partnership with BikeRight, has announced its most successful year to date for cycle training, with more than 3,000 children participating in Bikeability courses at schools across the borough.

The comprehensive training program has equipped 3,392 children with essential cycling skills and road safety knowledge. In addition to the school-based training, the initiative extended to the wider community, providing courses for 28 adults through family sessions and specialized training for 265 children with special educational needs.

The Bikeability program is designed to give children the confidence and skills to cycle safely on today's roads. The training is delivered in different levels, starting from basic playground skills to navigating local roads and complex junctions.

This significant uptake in cycle training reflects a growing enthusiasm for cycling in the region and supports the Council's broader objectives of promoting active and sustainable travel. By encouraging cycling from a young age, the council aims to foster a lifelong habit of active transport, contributing to a healthier population and a greener environment.

The partnership with BikeRight, a leading provider of cycle training, has been instrumental in the program's success. Their qualified instructors deliver the national standard Bikeability training, ensuring a high-quality and consistent learning experience for all participants.

For families and adults interested in improving their cycling confidence and skills, Cheshire West and Chester Council continues to offer a range of free courses. Further information and booking details for these programs can be found HERE
