The Parish Council considered and agreed its budget for 2022/23 along with provisional figures for 2023/24 and 2024/25 at the January Council meeting. Conscious of financial pressure on many residents, because of inflation, the Parish precept will increase by 2.4%, half the rate of current inflation. This means for a Band D property the charge will be £35.15, the 2021/22 figure was £34.33. The most significant changes to the budget are an increase in grants to local organisations, up 33%; the donation to the Royal British Legion will double as the Council felt that this was a better use of money rather than putting poppies on lampposts that had been suggested by some residents. Finally, over the years the Council has tried to smooth out items of spending which are not regular, but unavoidable, for example tree inspections every 3 years, elections every 4 years. In 2022/23 legal/professional fees will come under the same policy. The reason for doing this is to avoid a large percentage in the precept in one year only to be followed by a large decrease in the next.
