At the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 23rd September, it was reported that the planning application at Land at Tarporley Road for change of use of land for use as traveller site consisting of 1 static caravan, 3 trailer caravans, day room, septic tank, and landscaping had been refused by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The decision notice indicated that:

o the proposed development, located away from existing settlements in the countryside, would cause detrimental harm on the intrinsic character and beauty of the Cheshire countryside.

o the uncontrolled use of open land within the countryside for the siting of a static caravan, trailer caravans and associated development is considered to represent an uncharacteristically urban form of development that appears inconsistent with and incongruous in its rural surroundings.

o the site is unsustainably located in the countryside away from identified settlements and all journeys to and from the site would be likely to be made by private vehicle. There are inadequate safe walking and cycling routes available (across a busy main road) to the facilities in the nearest identified settlement.
