Pryors Hayes members turned out in force on Saturday, 2nd April, for the traditional "drive In"welcome for their new 2016 Captain.
There was a warm cheer of surprise, when the new Captain, John Oatley, came out to be greeted by the members in a military uniform bright enough to warm up the rather grey and rainy morning! The choice of attire was a reflection of the 75 years he, and now his two sons, have given in military service to this country. However, the main reason on this occasion was to highlight his chosen charity for the coming year, which is Battle Back Golf.
The Battle Back programme is a military initiative designed to introduce injured service personnel to sports and adventurous training activities thus returning them to a more normal active lifestyle and aiding in their physical and psychological rehabilitation.
The Battle Back Golf programme was founded in 2009 and is run by Lt Col Tristan Crew and Instructional Officer Zeno Gomes. The use of sports and outdoor activities has a proven track record to aid successful physical and psychological rehabilitation, providing the foundation for the development of a positive self image and outlook on life. Battle Back golf is no exception, proving highly successful in enhancing self confidence and morale.
