On 14th December last year we reported that land behind the Community Centre was being cleared in preparation for a new timber storage shed to be built. Despite some adverse weather since then we can now report that it is nearing completion. Yesterday, 25th February, some finishing touches included painting the inside walls and fixing several air vents.
One half is to be rented to Ashton Hayes Theatre Club for a modest amount, for the storage of props and costumes. The other section is for the Community Centre to store a wide variety of items that are currently stored under the stage. The problem with this is that retrieving and replacing items has involved the very uncomfortable process of crawling in, and back, on hands and knees! In the new shed materials will be stored in containers that can easily be wheeled into the Centre, protected from inclement weather by a covered walkway.
