Our demonstrator was Beryl Cotton with the subject All Things Bright and Beautiful. The finished results certainly lived up to the title. There was a dramatic show of wonderful flowers in various colours.

Much of the foliage that Beryl used was from her own garden. She even had phormiums which had weathered the cold last December.

The 1st design was the only one which had various colours which were provided by purple alliums and yellow eremurus along with some peach roses. These were displayed on a metal stand and Beryl had a 2nd smaller design in a vase to accompany it.

A large black flask was the container for design 2 and the colour scheme was purple with folded eucalyptus leaves around the vase top and Memory Lane roses with mauve carnations closely placed across the design. To this were added deep purple orchids and a paler shade of anthuriums. Stunning.

Red was the colour for design 3 which was placed in a large, unusual wooden container. The flowers were exotic ones which would last well for the lucky winner. Red anthuriums, protea and a rough textured orange/red flower were

Design 4 consisted of 3 arrangements and was all green apart from a creamy white orchid. Beryl used plenty of her lovely phormium leaves in various ways, such as plaiting, folding and cutting.

The final design was in shades of pink with gladioli, hydrangea, peonies and gerbera.

Whilst working to produce this wonderful display Beryl amused us with stories of the flower shop she used to have and her long living goldfish and French penpals.

A lovely relaxing evening was finished with strawberries and cream with our tea/coffee.

We do not meet in August . The September meeting is on the 13th when we hope to see many members and visitors again.
