Unless you have been in another part of the world recently you cannot help but know that this Thursday will see a General Election to the United Kingdom Parliament. Today, all British citizens over the age of eighteen share the fundamental right to vote and to have a voice in the democratic process. A right which, unfortunately, only 66% of the Eddisbury constituency population exercised in 2015.

Throughout history different groups have fought for this privilege...less than 200 years ago only 3% of the population were qualified to vote! Whether you were entitled to vote at that point in history depended upon your gender, how much you earned and the value of your property! It was less than 100 years ago, in 1928, that all adult members of the population were finally granted the vote.

So this Thursday, pop along to the Community Centre and put your cross in the box of your choosing...
The polling station will be open from 7am until 10pm, you don't need your polling card to vote – give your name and address to the staff inside the polling station and they will give you a ballot paper containing a list of the people, parties or options you can vote for. Take your paper into the polling booth and follow the instructions on the top of the paper on how to vote....it really is as simple as that.

This year, let your vote be counted

The candidates in the Eddisbury Constituency on June 8th are:

Bickley, John Joseph (UKIP)
Green, Mark Richard (Green)
Hill, Morgan Robert (Pirate Party UK)
Priestner, Ian Douglas (Liberal Democrats)
Reynolds, Cathy (Labour)
Sandbach, Antoinette Geraldine (Conservative)
