From Doreen Di Cani ...
Tarvin Methodist Church was the place to be on Thursday evening December 7th to celebrate what feels like the official start to Christmas. We were privileged to have as our guests the band and choristers of the Chester branch of THE SALVATION ARMY for their annual visit to bring us an evening of Christmas carols, songs and music.
The audience sang along enthusiastically with the Christmas carols played by the band and then in contemplative mood listened to the singing of the choristers accompanied on the piano by Karen and conducted by Carol. A solo piece on guitar was followed by the band playing a medley of Christmas music with variations of many well-known carols
The highlight was the performance by a small group of the choristers of a complicated routine with tambours. With ribbons flying , the noise of the tambours and very energetic moves we were all transfixed at their agility.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening followed by tea, coffee and mince pies. Our thanks go to everyone who made this concert possible and we look forward to a return visit next year. Donations raised £375 for the work of the Salvation Army in Chester.
