I was at last Monday's Parish Council meeting and I was surprised to see a deputation of parents who used the public forum to raise yet again the issue of free transport ( ie lack of) to Tarporley School from Tarvin.
They have been faced with all the same dilemmas that occurred a year ago when CWAC introduced their transport policy. How disheartening to hear all the same logical challenges to the policy, e.g. unnecessary extra buses, spare place on existing buses, longer journey times, etc etc.
As John Leather the Borough Councillor present said "these arguments carry little weight with CWAC as the previous transport policy has been endorsed by the latest Council based on distances to the nearest Secondary School".
So individuals should request the exact distances from CWAC from their own home to the various schools involved as a starting point. CWAC do not let people know the system used to estimate these routes however so its difficult to challenge their calculations but of course you can drive it and crosscheck.
Anyone who thinks they have a reasonable challenge over the lack of transport in their own specific situation should discuss with John Leather their next steps.
The message seems to be from some of the parents- keep challenging CWAC over their decision.
Yet again its the old old issue of an across the board policy which is appropriate in some instances but lacks credibility in others. Keeping the issue simple does not always arrive at the right conclusion when all factors are taken into account
