The annual allocation of school transport for Tarvin pupils transferring to Tarporley High School has just been announced and, once again, some Tarvin pupils and their parents have been struggling to understand the reason why they have not been allocated a place.

Out of a class of 34 children attending Tarvin Primary school in year 6, apparently six have been assessed as ineligible for free school transport to Tarporley High despite living in various village locations within Tarvin e.g. Crossfields and High Street and older siblings already having been granted school transport previously.

The parents will of course be appealing this decision but in order to do this they need to understand on what grounds they were deemed ineligible e.g. which nearer schools still have places, Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) travel distances to these schools etc. This information has been requested from CWaC but whether it will be received before the appeal deadline must be a concern.

Parents have now written to local CWaC Councillors, John Leather and Harry Tonge asking for their help to get the information on how the policy has been applied so that their appeal can be effectively worded.

Tarvinonline will keep you posted on how this matter developes because it is something that is very divisive and seems to be unfair.
