ST. ANDREWS WOMEN'S GROUP
At our June meeting we were privileged to have as our speaker
DI SKILBECK MBE
Who enlightened us with many facts about the restoration and development of the BOAT MUSEUM AT ELLESMERE PORT.
She has been involved since the early 1970's when the restoration began with volunteers doing the hard physical labour of moving everything that a derelict site accumulates before the digging out of the silted up docks could begin.Without the dedication of this group of people we would not have the wonderful asset that the Boat Museum is today.
Wearing a traditional cotton pinafore dress, that would have been worn by the women who worked and lived on the canal boats, Di gave us a most entertaining and informative evening enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you Di for sharing your experiences with us.
Our July meeting will be an afternoon trip to the Boat Museum to enjoy all the new improvements that have been made recently.
