St Andrew's Womens Group meeting report

From St Andrew's Womens Group ....

At our March meeting we were delighted to welcome as our speaker PCSO James Hannath, our local police support officer, who talked us through the various aspects of his role in the life of the village and surrounding area.

It was reassuring to hear that he is available in person on a regular basis to talk and advise on issues of safety, antisocial behaviour, and any criminal activity that we may be worried about.

He spoke about being aware of internet fraud, scams, doorstep crime, fake postal letters and telephone calls. He stressed how anybody of any age can be taken in by these fraudsters.

In a humorous and light-hearted manner he was able to impress on us the importance of checking caller's credentials and taking time to think before signing up to anything.

A very entertaining and informative evening. Thank you James.

To show our appreciation we are making a donation to THERAPY DOGS, a very worthwhile charity for which James is a volunteer worker.

The meeting concluded with tea, coffee and Mairi's superb home-made cakes. Thank you Mairi.
