ST ANDREWS WOMEN'S GROUP

We had a record audience at our May meeting to welcome as our speaker Tracey Kerfoot, Fund Raising Manager (just one of her voluntary posts) from the Flint Lifeboat Station.

An excellent speaker, she recounted many of the incidences dealt with by the crew of the Flint lifeboat. Some very distressing with unhappy endings but some with a much happier conclusion.

The boat operated by the Flint crew is a D class lifeboat capable of dealing with the difficult conditions often seen off the North Wales coast and in the river Dee as far as Parkgate. The Flint branch was formed by local volunteers as a rescue service in 1956 and became part of the RNLI in 1966.

All staff are volunteers, and often many from the same family.

The RNLI celebrates its 200th Anniversary in 2025. We were very pleased to support this wonderful organisation and their dedicated volunteer workforce in saving lives at sea.

The pop up shop was very popular and an impressive £199 was raised on the night to help fund the work of the RNLI.

Thank you Tracey for an inspiring evening.

Once again home-made biscuits, tea and coffee were enjoyed by all.
