Starting the Woodland in 2000

I thought this photo taken new years day 2000 might be interesting. We were invited to pay £10 and plant a tree to start the woodland.

It was a very sociable event, everyone digging and planting their own tree in a very convivial atmosphere. A very nice memory but perhaps people who have moved into the village since the millennium may not realise how it all started.

Ed. Wow how things have changed over the last 16 years!
