2022 has proved to be an outstanding year for Tarporley Sixth Form College, despite this cohort facing an incredibly challenging educational context. We are thrilled that so many of the grades awarded are at the very highest level of A*/A and our students have truly outperformed themselves! Despite 2022 being reported as the toughest time to apply to university 'in living memory', we are delighted that once again, the majority of our students have been placed at their chosen university.

Studying Mechanical Engineering at University of Leeds is Thomas Helsby, (A, A, A, A); attending University of Manchester is Niamh Bartlett (A, B, A, A) who will read Dentistry and Isabella Barker (A,A,A) will study Modern Languages at University of Leeds. With too many incredible successes to mention, numerous students also significantly exceeded their target grades, including: Evie Burrows (A*, B,B) who will be completing an Art Foundation course, Rebecca Leonard (A*, A, B) will be reading Psychology and Marketing at Liverpool Hope University, Sophie Cribb (A, B, D) will take a gap year before applying for the Armed Forces, Jacob Dickens (A,A,B) will read Oceanography and Coastal Processes at University of Plymouth, Olivia Williams (B, B, Distinction) has secured an Apprenticeship at Bentley, Eleanor Livera (B,B,C) will study Creative Writing at Chester University and Sam Corless (B,B,B) will read Biomedical Science at Lancaster. There are many more notable performances from students who will be taking up places at university this year to study a range of courses including Zoology, Primary Education, Midwifery, Learning Disability Nursing, Business Management, Physiotherapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Psychology, English Literature, Art History, Criminology, Modern Foreign Languages, Journalism, Accounting and Finance.

"As always, results day has been one of high emotion for us here at college", said Tina McMillan, Director of Sixth Form, "This has been another exceptional year group who have developed both academically and personally during their time here at Tarporley. This cohort have been praised for their mature approach, their sociability and teamwork as well as their leadership skills, despite the significant challenges we have all faced. The majority of our students do choose to go to university, however we have many students who have secured Apprenticeships, employment and gap year opportunities and we also celebrate these achievements. Today is just reward for all their hard work, supported by their families and the dedicated staff at the school. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Year 13 every success for the future. We really will miss them all!"

Tarporley Sixth Form is open to all students with suitable GCSE grades. Although many courses are full, there are some places available for the new academic year; students can register for courses on Thursday 25th August. Tarporley Sixth Form College is also open to students who have not previously attended the school.
