It's not every day you get to climb up the tower of the Parish Church or sit in the front seat of a police car kitted out in a police jacket. This is exactly what 1st Tarvin Beavers were able to do in October for their My World Challenge badge, part of which involves meeting people who work in our community.
We are so grateful to Rev Adam Friend for sharing some fascinating facts about St Andrew's Church with us and taking us up the very narrow steps to the top of the church tower and also to our local PCSO, James Hannath, who gave up an evening to talk to our Beavers about his job before answering many, many questions! Beavers learned about different pieces of equipment and what they were used for and they all got a chance to sit in the police car, try on a police helmet and pass around handcuffs, a baton and a police shield. James also reminded Beavers about being safe and seen, and presented everyone with a sheet of reflective stickers and armbands.
