Tarvin Community Centre Annual General Meeting

The Community Centre Committee is busy planning for the Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday May 7th at 7.30 pm. The meeting will assess the progress made in the past year, approve the accounts and choose a new Committee to serve in the following year.

All members of the Community are warmly invited to attend. Specific invitations will be sent out to all organisations who use the Centre regularly, but the Committee hope that many residents who cross the threshold and appreciate the place, will come along and give their support.

Though such meetings can sometimes be regarded as rather formulaic, this year's meeting is special as it will mark the retirement of Alan Wilkinson, who has been Chairman for 10 years. During this decade, and backed by a Committee fired up by his example, the Community Centre has grown and thrived.

Vice Chair, Sue Hardacre, says "An enthusiast by nature and a salesman by profession, Alan has cajoled, pushed and charmed his way thorough the decade to establish an efficient and well-run organisation. As the annual income has increased, funds have been ploughed back into improvements and renovations, work that continues today. Rarely does Alan come down to the Centre without looking around and spotting some way that things can be improved. We will miss him but will carry on the work with the same dedication that he has shown."

As well as Alan a few other Committee members have decided to retire as well, and these excellent people will be honoured in a small Celebration party to be held after the AGM. All who attend the meeting are welcome to stay and show their appreciation for all that has been achieved.
