Plans are well under well for this year's village fete which we'll be holding on June 13th.

Since 2014 the fete has been organised, managed and presented by a very small group of residents. However, the success of the event has led to an increasingly unmanageable work load.

This year I am pleased to say that St Andrews Church have kindly offered to take on some of the burden. This has been offered as a contribution to village life and not for any financial gain for the church; nor is the church in a position to contribute financially.

So far, the event has never made a profit beyond breaking even but should we be able to do so this year, any money raised will be invested in next year's fete. Organising the village fete is a costly business. All the finance comes from grants given by the parish council and our borough councillors and by donations from local businesses and individuals. In addition, we hold fund raisers through the year, including a stall at the Christmas market and events like the coffee morning we'll be hosting on March 21st. We also charge stallholders a small rental fee which is greatly reduced for charities and good causes.

Without the support of our community, the fete wouldn't take place. Tarvin Primary School and St Peter's at Duddon help with organising the procession. The community centre and 1st Tarvin scouts and guides give free use of their buildings while our stage is donated by Farrell's transport and Tarvin Methodist Church organise café style refreshments in the community centre. The fete wouldn't be complete without entertainment and all the performers give their time and their talents free of charge.

We know you are appreciative of all that goes into organising the village fete and, thanks to St Andrews, we're looking forward this year to bringing you a event that is bigger and better than ever.
