Tarvin Flower Club enjoyed a very special May meeting when our own club president, Sharon, stepped in as demonstrator. Having served as an area demonstrator for many years, Sharon has recently retired from demonstrating, making this a particularly generous and welcome favour for club members.

Sharon is well known for her wonderfully stocked garden, abundant with beautiful foliage, and she put this to excellent use in her themed demonstration, "Teatime with Flowers." All of her designs were arranged in cups or cups and saucers, giving the display a charming and elegant feel.

Her first arrangement, in shades of purple, was an all-round design, followed by a smaller white horizontal arrangement. A grey cup and saucer, perched on a small metal chair, provided the base for a striking triangular design of varied foliage, completed with lovely yellow roses. The final design, in pink and red tones, featured weigela with red buds, pink-shaded lilies, and beautiful salmon pink peonies in a flowing arrangement.

Sharon also demonstrated a simple and effective alternative to floral foam by decorating glass jars with hessian and filling them with mixed garden flowers. The effect was delightful, particularly when the jars were grouped together. Raffle winners were also impressed by how thoughtfully Sharon had made it easy to transport their winning designs home.

In keeping with the teatime theme, members rounded off the evening with homemade scones and local clotted cream.

Looking ahead, the June meeting will be a garden visit, and on 8th July, Cynthia Preston Jones will present a demonstration entitled "Dedicated Follower of Fashion."

Ed: Gorgeous arrangements!  Tarvin Online are also introducing a new AI-designed logo that we will be using with the flower club articles.
