In February 1993, Richard Millar, a Tarporley High School lower sixth former from Tarvin was selected for the Cheshire Under 19 squad for a week-long Festival of Football.
The Festival of Football was the largest organised football event of its kind in the world, involving more than 1000 pupils and staff and would involve Richard, aged 17, playing in up to four county matches in and around Morecambe between April 13th and 18th.
