For the second time in January 1993, Tarporley High School was in the news. On this second occasion it was because one of its pupils, Tamsin Glassup had won a place on the British Mathematical Olympiad. Tamsin, 16, of Crossfields reached the top 500 in a national mathematics contest that attracted 30,000 students.
She was one of 12 pupils from the High School who received either gold, silver or bronze certificates in the competition which was aimed at 16 to 18- year-olds. In the photograph Head of Maths, Brian Law, is seen with certificate winners Tamsin Glassup, Richard Millar, Susan Cheers, David Poland, Moira Hay, Michael Neely, Stephen Bradley, Kay Burgess, Ruth Waddington, Ian Peacock, Keren Durbin and Jacqueline Powell.
