September 1992 saw large numbers of people attending the Tarvin Gardening Society's third annual horticultural show in the Tarvin Community Centre. The scale of the event can be judge by the fact that there were more than 500 different entries in 94 categories. The entries were competing for 52 trophies and cash prizes worth £200.

Mrs C Laverick won both the Edna Rose Cup for in the floral art section, and the Royal Mail Cup for the best in show, while A.E. Mort also received two awards, one for best vegetable in show and the Les Lewis Cup for the most points in the vegetable section.

The photographs show Pat Parking, Secretary, and Heather Hughes, membership administrator, with a hybrid tea rose and Keith Stamp from Tarvin with his busy lizzy hanging basket.

Ed: The Tarvin Fete was resurrected after after a number of missed years and so perhaps this well loved event will eventually return to the village calendar.
