Spring sprang at Tarvin Primary School in March 1984 in the shape of two 10-day-old lambs.
Blackie and Blanche were born at Sheaf farm, Stapleford, but because they were the third of triplets, their mothers could not care for them and rejected them.
Teacher, Mrs Ann Flanagan, offered to take them off Sue Heath's hands, and the lambs who needed bottle feeding four times a day were looked after at school, where the Pupils loved them. They take pride of place in pets corner, where they stayed until they were weaned. Mrs Flanagan took them home to keep her grass down after that.
Here we see Josephine Evans, Jill Crosby and Alan Sheppard helping Mrs Flanagan to feed the lambs.
