In April 1992, 16th Century Church House was on the market after being rescued from dereliction by Chester's Historic Building Preservation Trust. The restoration work had to deal with dry rot, wet rot, woodworm, death-watch beetle, a new roof, work on the sandstone foundations and walls damaged by earlier brick infill. The problem now was that a recession had hit the housing market and the house was still on the market one year later and the borrowed funds needed to be repaid.
It is not known how long after this that the property was eventually sold, but the current owners, and also Tarvin residents, must remain grateful to the group of volunteers, amateur and professional conservationists, who came together in this case to maintain a property that adds so much character to the village centre.
