Four 1st Tarvin Scouts survived an expedition to Hadrian's Wall and won a Chief Scout Challenge award as a result!
An article by the Chester Chronicle that appears in the Tarvin History Scrapbooks for November 1988 reported that the 4 scouts had trekked for 4 days in appalling weather, gaining information on the Wall as they walked.
The 4 scouts (pictured right) were Paul Done, Andrew Millar, Ian Sheen, and, Stuart Hornby, and is thought that Ian may be one of the youngest Scout to receive the award as he was 14 only the day before the expedition.
The awards were presented by assistant commissioners Geoff Roberts and Robin Turney after a supper of hot-pot and apple pie, prepared by the boy's mothers.
