At the end of August 1990, Tarvin had its first Horticultural Show for 50 years! It proved to be a triumph for the organisers and has remained a firm favorite in the Tarvin village calendar since then.
Local residents flocked to the Garden Society show at the Community Centre. The event attracted more than 300 entries which reports described as exceptional because of what had been achieved during a "long, hot and dry summer."
The photograph shows the Gardening Society secretary, Pat Parkin, and the Chairman, Jim Dodd, inspecting the hanging baskets.
