In April 1992, some Tarvin Scouts excelled themselves in the Year's Cheshire Hike. The annual event allows scouts to complete a gruelling two-day expedition and they are awarded points for speed, map reading and other scouting skills.
That year the hike was held in the Chester District with Tarvin competing in the junior and intermediate age groups.
In the Intermediate section Tarvin Scouts Steven Cordingley and Ian Warren came first in Chester district and 13th in the county. Chris Stott and Mark Underhill came sixth in district and 30th in county.
In the junior section Gareth Williams and Jon Lloyd finished fourth in district and 23rd overall and just missed out on gaining the award for best newcomers. The other Tarvin Juniors, Mark Hughes and Andrew managed sixth place in district and 30th place in county.
