In October 1992, there were two Tarvin stories that reflected either end of the educational spectrum.
At the pre-school level, Tarvin Community Playgroup was reported to be within sight of realising their dream of having raised enough money to buy a new mobile classroom to replace the old one in the grounds of Tarvin Primary School. The latter had no running water or toilet facilities and under the Children's Act was no longer suitable to house a 30-strong playgroup.
At the other end of the educational spectrum, Tarvin electronic technician, Blair Poole, an apprentice with the Science and Engineering Research Council at Daresbury laboratory, was receiving an Engineering Centre Progress Award which was presented by the Merseyside Vice Lord-Lieutenant at a special ceremony.
