Parents, carers and eagle eyed members of the community may have noticed that a concrete slab has been laid adjacent to the entrance to the playground at the Primary School.

For those weren't aware this will house cycle shelters so that bikes and scooters can be protected from the weather during the school day. Following a questionnaire to parents the school understands that should cycling shelters be provided it is likely that more families will take up cycling and scooting to school, improving their fitness and hopefully removing a percentage of the cars that congest the local roads at pick up and drop off times.

Having secured funding from our Ward Councillors, Hugo Deynem and John Leather, for one cycle shelter the school is attempting to fund the concrete slab installation and a second shelter out of their own meagre funds. The Governors and PTA had hoped that some of the funding sourced from the 50th Anniversary Crowd Fund could be utilised. However, despite some very generous initial donations, support for the initiative has been disappointing. Whilst Tarvin Primary is a state school and the government should be funding all aspects of school life, in reality this just does not happen. So, if you have ever thought that there were too many cars around the school at pick up and drop off times, or you are a former pupil or future parent or grandparent that would like to support the school and help to keep our children fit and healthy, then please follow the linkhere. Any donation, no matter how small, would be gratefully received.
