On Sunday, 9 September, Tarvin Tennis Club held its annual Finals' Day which is the culmination of the Club Tournament which runs throughout the summer.
It was well attended and spectators were able to both enjoy the tennis which was of a high standard and the catering provided by the finalists and committee members.
There were some serial winners playing as well as members who have joined the Club recently which led to some interesting and close fought matches. Deserved winners of the Singles were Kathryn Mason and Peter Nosworthy.
The Ladies' Doubles was won by Rowena Okell partnering Karen Elliott, whilst the Men's Doubles was won by Gavin Nicholson and Adam Elliott. The Mixed Doubles, which completed a long day, the match finishing close to 7.30 pm, was particularly closely contested and was won by Adam Elliott and Jane Mitchell who defeated Graham Bunting and Julia Burgess. Regular winner, Graham, was in three finals and on this occasion was unfortunate not to be successful.
It was an enjoyable afternoon and congratulations are due to the Club's Playing Committee who staged the event. Trophies were presented by former Chairmen of the Club including Roy Jefferson and Patrick Brannam, who were
both involved when the Club started more than 50 years ago.
