Are you a parent, grandparent or carer in the local area who has a preschool child to look after on a Friday? Then come and join us at Tarvin Toddlers on a Friday in term time at the community centre 10-11.30am. £3 per family with plenty of toys to play with, refreshments and snacks and a craft activity each week.

Tarvin Toddlers is a long established friendly community group that has been running for over 15 years. It provides a welcoming space for parents with new babies, toddlers and pre school children to come and meet and have a cup of tea or coffee while the children play; and has provided the basis of many long established friendships in the village. I see it as a vital community hub for people new to the village or people who have been living in the village for a while. Its great to pop along and meet people with children of a similar age.

Since COVID struck sadly the group has been struggling to run. There are not as many people attending and there are only a small group of volunteers who meet to run it. We would love to make the group a thriving one again and are hoping that by reaching out to the community we can spread awareness. Unfortunately if we cannot gain interest we may need to close the group as we do not currently bring in enough money to cover the cost of the hall on a weekly basis.

We really want to raise the profile of the group and try to get more people attending before we make the sad decision to close the group down. If anyone can help in any way or can spread the word around the village please do let us know. We would also love to update some of the toys and equipment we use so if you are having a toy clear out and are looking for a home to donate to please consider us!

Testimonials for the group

I moved to Tarvin when my daughter was 18 months old and Tarvin Toddler group was the first community group we joined. We were made to feel extremely welcome and both myself and my daughters met life long friends there. It was lovely meeting likeminded people and sharing stories and advice over a much needed cuppa while the children played. Nearly all of my Tarvin friendships started at Toddlers! Liz

When I moved to Tarvin with a 9 month old baby, the toddler group was fantastic! Everyone was so kind and friendly. It gave me the opportunity to meet other mums, dads and grandparents from the village and it was so nice to have someone hand me a cup of tea and a biscuit! My daughter loved crawling around with the other babies and ended up going to school with the same children. By the time I had my second daughter, I was already helping out regularly at the group and both me and my children looked forward to our Friday mornings at Tarvin Toddlers- Lisa

When I moved to Tarvin 10 years ago with a toddler and heavily pregnant, Tarvin Toddlers was a lifesaver! It was so welcoming, we made friends really quickly and my children and I are still really close with many of the mums and children that we first met at Tarvin Toddlers. I have such fond memories of that time- Alison
