First up in the month was the Annual Council Meeting which was held at the Lifestyle Centre, Winsford, on Tuesday 7th March. The President, Irene Wilkinson, and Secretary, Margaret Matthews, attended to represent Tarvin. The morning speaker was Jennie Williams who is a Fraud/Cyber Protection Officer from the National Crime Unit who shared with us lots of useful tips for keeping ourselves safe online. During the afternoon, we were entertained by Derek Poulson on the origins of regional accents. Both speakers provided the audience not with excellent information but also with much laughter and a great deal of knowledge of their subject.

On Monday 13th March we had a "Lunch and Laughter in the Lounge" event at Tarvin Community Centre. This well attended event began with an unusual card game, which generated the Laughter, followed by soup, sandwiches, nibbles and puddings for lunch. As everyone went home smiling, the the main object of the afternoon had clearly been achieved.

Our "March Meeting" was held on Wednesday 29th March at Tarvin Community Centre. The President, Irene Wilkinson, informed members that, as agreed at the February meeting, two new teapots had now been purchased and were in the kitchen cupboard in the Community Centre for WI and Community use. The speaker for the evening was Anna Alexander who spoke about being a National Trust Volunteer based at Speke Hall. She had been a guide at Speke Hall since 2008 and she had brought with her the costume which she wears when on duty – see photograph. It was an informative meeting which generated a lot of discussion during the tea break.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 26th at TCC and will be The Resolutions Meeting followed by a talk from Jean Finney on 'Origins of Nursery Rhymes'
