SPEAKER DAVE CALVERLEY – A WEEK ON 'T' CUT

Our Speaker for this evening was Dave Calverley who lives in Huddersfield and is a trained ex-lecturer. Dave started on the public speaking circuit by giving talks about outdoor equipment to promote his outdoor shop. As a keen photographer and member of the Huddersfield Canal Society he combines his hobbies providing an interesting talk on canal waterways. A week on 'T' Cut is an imaginary week's cruise around the inland waterways of Britain calling at various highlights of our National and Industrial Heritage. We were taken on a journey by means of music and slides, showing places of interest around the Shropshire Union and Llangollen canals and his home town of Huddersfield. Dave gave us an insight into the history of the canal network and his life as a boat owner. A very interesting evening.

THE EVENING DRAWS TO A CLOSE.

A welcome cup of tea/coffee and cake awaited us and members settled down with friends, old and new, to make forthcoming arrangements before settling off home.
