Tarvin Woodland 5k and 1K Running event

Next Autumn will see the inaugural 1k and 5k runs through Tarvin woodland!

As a much-needed additional fundraiser, and to widen the appeal of our Community Woodland, the Trust is looking at introducing a running event through the Woodland next September. We have become increasingly aware of the importance of our woodland for everyone's health and wellbeing and attracting more local people to use the space for exercise has always been one of our ambitions. We are planning to organise an inaugural 5k race using the Woodland footpath and the adjacent bridleway for a 2½ lap circuit, together with a 1k race for children on the same day. The entry fees and sponsorship would help us to secure important additional funding for the ongoing maintenance of our much-loved Woodland.

We would now like to make contact with anyone locally who has experience of organising such a sporting event, together with everyone who is enthusiastic about running as a way of keeping fit. This has the potential to be a really great event and everyone who would like to assist (in whatever way) is invited to make contact in order to help the Trust with the event’s organisation.
