Saturday 16th October 2021 @ TMC between 10am and noon.
It seems to have been a long time since Tarvin folk had an opportunity to tell the Trustees what they think – and how they feel – about Tarvin woodland. Over the past year-and-a-half, the woodland has provided a lifeline for many Tarvin folk and it is not hard to judge how heavily it was being used by looking at the path – the grass has been worn away alongside BOTH of its edges as a combined result of the extensive use and the effects of social distancing. During the pandemic, the woodland came into its own in ways that surprised everyone (and might even have surprised Jim Grogan!)
During that time, the woodland managed largely on its own – since our loyal group of volunteers were mostly shielding – and I have wondered why it might have been in any way unexpected that nature managed to cope perfectly well without our aid. However, while that might be fine long-term in a natural woodland, ours is a MANAGED woodland, in which we try to combine the accessibility features of an amenity woodland with as much of the natural woodland as we can manage. This is a balancing act which is certainly difficult (and perhaps impossible) to achieve. However, we do try. Whether we get the balance right, only you can judge. And your chance to tell us is at our coffee morning on Saturday 16th October 2021 between 10am and noon at Tarvin Methodist Church. It will also give the Trust a chance to do some much-needed fundraising. Please come along if you can. We’d love to hear from you!
