The early years of parenthood can be a surprisingly lonely time for many parents. Whether you stay at home one day or five days a week with your children, we are social animals, we need to spend time with others of our own age or circumstances for advice, comfort, or just to chew the fat.

Our children don't come with a manual, and even if they did, they sure wouldn't read it! As an adoptive parent, suddenly having two lovely toddlers to look after, no matter how well prepared for parenthood I tried to be, I was in shock! Toddler groups for me and many other parents have been a real life-line.

Sharing experiences with other parents can be cathartic and helpful too. When we are with other parents we can support each other in the ups and downs of parenthood. Our children can play with others their own age and we can see howtheyrelate to other children, what sort of things they like ad don't like to do, how they cope with little set backs and how they cope in a setting with several other children. We learn a lot about our kids at those groups. We and our children get to know others with whom they will verylikely go to school in years to come. I have made life-long friends through the various parent and toddler groups that my children and I attended and so have they.

In Tarvin and Kelsall we are very fortunate to have several Baby and toddler groups that parents can take their little ones to, have a chat and refreshments.
