Keeping the Faith

The History of the Royal British Legion.

Ray Hoerty, one of our well-known speakers, will tell us the story of Byng’s Millions, two men, two women, a Lancastrian poet and a Canadian Medical Officer.Today, we take its name for granted, but originally, it was merely one of 49 suggestions.

The commemoration of VE Day is next month on 8th May, and as this year is the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, it seems appropriate that we learn the history of the amazing organisation which is the Royal British Legion.

We have much to thank the Royal British Legion for in protecting the memory of veterans and current servicemen and women in all the Armed Services.

You can find out more from the U3A website – https://tarporleyanddistrict.u3asite.uk – where the monthly newsletter is available, as is information on how to join the U3A.
