On Saturday, (24th October), Tarvin residents arrived at Tarvin Primary School to celebrate the Woodland Trust's new status and to view the hard work that Tarvin Primary Schools pupils had put into their annual exhibition " excellence in sport. "(click hereto see our article)
Headmaster Andrew Daviesopened the proceedings by welcoming everyone before handing over to Charles Bradley of the Woodland Trust who reminded everyone that today was to be a celebration of the Woodland Trust and their ongoing relationship with Tarvin Primary School and its pupils.
Charles then had the pleasure of introducing Councillor Samantha Dixon, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council who had great pleasure in presenting Trust Chairman Stuart Exell with the deeds to the woodland.
This now means that the Woodland now belongs to Tarvin and its residents.
Next, Tarvin's new MP, Antionette Sandbach presented Charles Bradley with the Woodland's record breaking 6th consecutive Green Flag. No other organisation has won as many consecutive Pennants, so the Woodland should be very proud of what they have achieved.
The final presentation was the delivery of a cheque for £6,600 from Barclays Community Programme presented by local resident and Barclay's employee, Jonathan Sears, who had taken it upon himself to enter the Woodland Trust into their programme and ensured that the Trust received very valuable extra funds. The photo shows Jonathan delivering the cheque (a very large one) to Trust Treasurer John Daines.
