At the Open Forum at the September parish Council Meeting, a member of the public outlined the events which are being planned to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. These are:

5-8 November Afternoon teas at St Andrew's Church, 1.30 – 3.00 pm, with a short concert or poetry reading and the chance to look at memorabilia of the war

5 November onwards Village poppy display at Tarvin Methodist Church

10 November Commemorative coffee morning at Tarvin Methodist Church, 10.00 am
Concert of Peace at Tarvin Community Centre, 7.30 pm, featuring three local choirs (tickets £3)

11 November Tarvin village parade to the War Memorial, Church Street, 10.30 am
Armistice Service at the War Memorial, 10.50 am
Bells of Peace rung at St Andrew's Church, 12.30 pm
Sunday Roast dinner at Tarvin Community Centre, 1.00 pm (tickets £14)

The organisers hoped that the PC would contribute towards buying 100 ceramic poppies to form an avenue of remembrance lining the pathway to St Andrew's Church

The PC agreed that the Armistice commemoration proposals were really important and hoped that as many residents as possible would want to support these events. The PC agreed that 165 ceramic poppies – one for each person named on the Roll of Honour kept in St Andrew's Church – should be bought. It therefore agreed a grant of £450.
Cllr Deynem (one of Cheshire West and Chester's ward councillors for Tarvin and Kelsall) said he would support a request from the organisers for a grant of £260 from his member's budget, to meet the balance of the cost
