The Community Centre Committee is pleased to announce that the defibrillator by the main entrance door is now fully operational. New pads and a new battery have been obtained and the North West Ambulance Service has added the location to the list of available devices in Tarvin.

The machine was originally purchased by the Parish Council but was removed from the Ambulance Service's list as round the clock access could not be guaranteed. It remained available for use, but more recently has been out of commission while the new battery and pads were obtained. The Community Centre has now taken over responsibility for the maintenance of the machine, and the Ambulance Service, having checked that it is working satisfactorily, has agreed to put it back on the list. Other locations of defibrillators in the local area are outside the Scout Hut, in the High Street near the village noticeboard, and in Oscroft in the telephone box on the Green.

To make use of the Community Centre defibrillator it is necessary to dial 999 first. The Ambulance Service will then give the caller a code to open the casing to access the actual machine. Clear and precise instructions on how to use the machine are then automatically given to the user.

The Community Centre Committee is very pleased that it is now able to offer this facility to the community but sincerely hopes that it never has to be used.
