If you are unfortunately going to miss Father Christmas at the Tarvin Christmas Festival and Market, or you just want to see him again because you forgot to tell him about an extra present you would like, then worry not.
Father Christmas will be returning to Tarvin with Tarporley Rotary Club again in December. He will be starting at the George and Dragon at 5.30pm on Tuesday 12th December and again at Saxon Heath on Thursday 14th December at 5.30pm.
Last year, Children and parents who had heard that he was coming gathered in large numbers and braved the rain to greet him. Members from the Rotary Club of Tarporley together with local Tarvin volunteers visited almost every house in Tarvin, collecting money for local charities. A diversion was made to the planned route, to the scout hut, much to the delight of the Brownies. However, Father Christmas had to replenish his supply of sweets following the visit!
Local charities supported by Rotary include Tarvin War Memorial Hospital, Claire House, Hope House, and the Neuromuscular Centre as well as national charities such as Children in Need and MacMillan Nurses. Last year a contribution was also made to Tarvin Scouts. The Rotary Club also organises mock interviews for year 11 students at Tarporley High School each year to give them valuable experience to prepare them for real-life interviews.
Rotary is a non-political, non-religious worldwide organisation of 1.2 million members, open to men and women. Tarporley Rotary meets each week at Willington Hall.
