The Bandersnatch concert brought the sound of great music to the Community Centre on Saturday night (Nov 15th). With a mix of electric and acoustic instruments – guitars, mandolin, banjo, violin and keyboard – the five musicians thrilled their listeners with an eclectic selection of music drawn from a range of traditions. English folk music was matched by pieces from Bob Dylan and James Taylor, while blues, gospel, rock and bluegrass roots were also explored. With virtuoso playing, intricate harmonies and foot-tapping arrangements, the hall was buzzing.

However, it is also fair to say that this pleasure was shared by a modest and select audience. Only 33 people paid to come, though with the bar profits, the Community Centre did not make a loss. Sue Hardacre, who is responsible for publicity said "Though all of those who came did enjoy themselves very much, I am sorry that we were not able to attract more customers and thus create an even more exciting atmosphere."

The Community Centre Committee works hard to bring a wide variety of entertainment to the village but has struggled a bit in the last few months with music. A recent jazz evening had to be cancelled because of very poor ticket sales, though a Big Band dance and an Eagles Tribute band fared better. Sue said "In the recent community survey, music was mentioned by a number of people as being of interest to them, so we would love to know what kind of music people would like to hear".
