Ashton Hayes and Tarvin Flower Club

"Pastures New" was the title chosen by our demonstrator Julie Evans from Oswestry. As this was her 1st professional demonstration it became one on her list of new things she has done in the last year or two. She told us about starting to keep chickens and also about beekeeping. Her next new venture was to join The National Trust and to visit their properties. This was followed by joining a newly formed choir and singing for charity events. There is an organisation in her area which helps to entertain lonely, elderly people and she decided to become a hostess for that cause. Finally she told us about her new garden. For each new venture she designed a colourful arrangement in keeping with the topic. These provided a lovely, varied display at the end.

If you have never been to a Flower Club meeting do come and join us. You'll be given a friendly welcome, tea/coffee and biscuit as well as an entertaining evening watching someone else do all the work.

Our next meeting is at the Tarvin Community Centre on 9th of April, when Ros Anwyn will present Alice in Wonderland

Unlike many or our neighbouring villages, Tarvin has had no maps on display of our historic village centre Conservation Area. Tarvin Civic Trust thought that posting a display somewhere in the village centre might fit the bill. We considered display boards of all shapes and sizes but where would we put them? Then we lit on the idea of posting a display on the back window of the bus shelter...
