In a recent article from The Community Centre "A Timely Request to the Community" the issues of loneliness, particularly for the elderly, was raised and it is clear that support in Tarvin is available from a number of organisations.

In today's Daily Telegraph (25th November), in an article by John Bingham, Social Affairs Editor, he mentions the launch of a new 24-hour telephone service for older people called Silver Line
He goes on the say that 'loneliness is a fact of everyday life for at least two and a half million older people in Britain, a study found.'
As a result Esther Rantzen- Childline founder, has set up a telephone service, Silver Line, which goes live Monday 25th on BBC television.

The Parish Council owns and maintains 24 street lights in the Parish area and every 3 years these have to be inspected to see that they are physically safe. The latest inspection was carried out by independent assessors in early November and two steel lampposts were found to have weak foundations.
