On April 6th at 7.30 pm the George Heath Foundation will be running a Table Quiz in the Community Centre. The cost will be £2.50 per team member and teams can be up to 6 people strong. This is one of a number of events held by the Foundation to raise money for community causes. Many thousands of pounds have been raised and distributed to local organisations in the short time the Foundation has been in existence.
Tarvin Community Centre has been one grateful recipient. £1000 has been received to help fund the building of the storage shed, now nearing completion. They have also agreed to provide £2,500 for what is called 'Third Party Funding' for the renovation of the Main Hall. This funding becomes necessary should the grant request to WREN be successful. When awarding a grant, WREN require successful applicants to provide a small percentage of the funding total, essentially to 'release' the amount awarded.
The George Heath Foundation was created nearly two years ago following the tragic road accident that took the life of a much-loved, local young man. In their grief and sadness, his friends and family decided to celebrate his love of sport with a football tournament that would bring a smile to the face of local people. From this very successful event has grown the George Heath Foundation, now a formally registered charity, that exists to support local worthy causes. Such an action takes courage, and all those who have benefitted respect and admire George's family and friends who have taken this public step to remember him.
