It's now almost 12 months since we brought Cubs back to Tarvin and in this short space of time we have achieved a full Cub Pack and we already have a waiting list.

The main aims of scouting are to have fun in a safe environment where children can develop their skills and learn new ones, whilst developing a caring and responsible attitude towards the world and its people. With that in mind, we have played a lot of games and enjoyed a number of activities which have enabled the Cubs to gain Award and Challenge badges which have given them a real sense of achievement.
We hope that some of our Cubs will have made enough progress to gain the Chief Scout's Silver Award next spring.

Two of the highlights of this year have been the trip to Cosford Air Museum in June and the Cheshire Jamboree in August. During the year we've also done such diverse activities as code breaking, animal care, athletics, cooking, D.I.Y., soap carving, gardening, map reading and knots.
We've planted 160 crocus bulbs outside the scout building and maintained the Tarvin Millennium Garden.

We visited St Andrew's church and climbed to the top of the tower where we learned about campanology. We've raced around the playing field and roamed through the Woodland where we helped to build a multi story bug house (which we named 'Bugingham Palace'.
On two very noisy evenings, we made notice boards to put into gardens and we had a lovely time cooking a delicious meal.
We've made two trips to Broomheath Plantation where the Cubs learned how to light fires safely before tucking into toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate.

One of the most important events of this year has been taking part in the World War 1 Memorial service at St Andrew's church. Our Cubs paraded with their Standard and it was an honour for us to be part of this very solemn and poignant act of worship.

During the coming year we will be going on more trips and we have a full programme of events planned. We look forward to the new floors being laid and the renovations being completed so that we can move into the other half of the building. When that happens we will be able to move the Pack meeting to Mondays which will enable the boys who presently go to football on Wednesdays, to join us.

Finally, I would like to thank the fabulous team who enable Pack meetings to be filled with fun and exciting activities. My co-leaders, Simon and Pam, are invaluable, as are the parent helpers, Linda Fisher and Jennie Bodger, who give unstintingly of their time to make scouting in Tarvin the success it is.
We also have three young leaders, Rob Anderson, Samuel Wildboar and Rob Thorp whose energy and commitment make Pack meetings so wonderful.

If you would like to put your child's name on our waiting list, please contact me at jinks1107@aol.com or ring either 01829 741374 or 07545255680.
